OpenEars is a free app full of short audio stories about the body, biology, and first aid, with more topics on the way. I made it for students who are blind or visually impaired. It is also for anyone who finds it easier to learn by listening.

How the lessons are made

I wrote every lesson to be heard, not read.

The words, pacing, and controls are all designed around listening.

Written for listening

I write each lesson with listeners in mind from the first draft, so everything you need to understand the story is said out loud.

Easy to follow

Each lesson follows a clear story from beginning to end, which makes new ideas easier to understand and remember.

About five minutes long

Most stories take about five minutes. You can listen between classes, on a walk, or whenever you have a few minutes.

Works with your screen reader

Keyboard navigation, real labels, good contrast, and buttons you can find without looking at the screen.

Available offline

Download a chapter once and keep listening with no signal and no data plan.

OpenEars does not require an account or a subscription. Every lesson is available for free.

Why OpenEars exists

A trip to Belize changed how I think about learning.
